New ways to reflect, engage, and celebrate
Dear friend,
Where has the time gone? I can’t believe it’s been 4 months since my last message. I have to admit that I haven’t gotten nearly as much done as I’d planned this fall. It’s not for lack of trying. Somehow even my pared-down list of goals is proving to be unrealistic.
Luckily, I have people in my life who remind me of everything Ihaveaccomplished.
That’s one of the things I’ve loved about the STANDOUT Professor Confab. It’s been wonderful to see the support and encouragement participants offer one another, not to mention the enhanced productivity people experience as a result of the structure and community.
If you’re a post-PhD academic researcher and this sounds valuable to you, please join us! Registration is now open for our winter session, with early-bird pricing through December 23rd. (Past Confab participants and current one-on-one coaching clients are eligible for further discounts, so reach out to me if you fall into one of those categories and want more info.) If you’re curious but not ready to commit yet, I’m offering a free trial week from January 13th through 17th.
Speaking of support and encouragement, my friend and colleague Victoria Fontana and I have put together a set of meditative contemplations focused on situations commonly faced by faculty and other academics. We’re hoping they help you pause and reflect amid your busy lives. You can check them out on my *new* website! (Yay! We’re still making final tweaks to the site, so please reach out if you notice any glitches.) Victoria and I plan to add more recordings in the future, so please share your suggestions!
And don't forget that I have lots of videos, ranging in length from 60 seconds to 45 minutes, on a bunch of different topics. For example, my series on coaching techniques for leaders contains content that's useful to anyone managing a team, or even just trying to interact more effectively with colleagues.
I’m planning to share a few new resources later this month, including the long-awaited second episode of the STANDOUT Professor podcast! In the meantime, I hope you’ll take time to notice where you’ve made progress, even if it isn’t as significant as you’d planned. And I hope you’ll take a moment to share some of those accomplishments with me. I’d love to celebrate with you!
As always, thanks for being here, and thanks for being you.
More soon,
Elizabeth Odders-White
