Support as you look back and move forward
Hello friend,
It’s been a year of ups and downs. I am relieved and grateful to feel good about where I am in this moment. That isn’t always the case. It wasn’t even the case 2 days ago, and that makes it all the more precious.
Wherever you are on the roller coaster, I want you to know how much I appreciate that we’re on this ride together. And I’m excited to share a couple of new resources that I hope will help as we wrap up 2024 and usher in the new year.
First, I’ve created a video with a few short exercises to guide us as we reflect on the past year and look ahead to the next. I think you'll find that taking a few minutes to pause and regroup has great value, especially at this busy time of year.
Second, the 6-year wait is over! 😲 The second episode of the STANDOUT Professor podcast has finally dropped. In this insightful conversation, longtime faculty members Diane Del Guercio and Jennifer Koski reflect on what it’s like to be one of few women in the room, the challenges of balancing parenthood with a career in academia, and how to think about service as a junior faculty member. If you find the episode valuable, please let me know, and I’ll do my best to record another before 2030.
And, finally, please don’t forget that early-bird pricing for the STANDOUT Professor Winter 2025 Confab is in effect through Monday (12/23). In the words of a recent participant, “It was motivating to see others work, see others struggle but still persevere, and to have their encouragement. We seemed to all have good and bad days, [which] allowed me to be a bit less hard on myself.” What better way to start the new year strong?
That’s all for now. I hope we connect soon. Until then, I’m sending my warmest wishes for a joyous holiday and a peaceful start to the year.
Thanks for being here, and thanks for being you!
